What Makes the Tier 1 Elite Different
There are a lot of trauma shears. Most are press-stamped from thin rolled steel, coated with whatever finish keeps them from rusting before they hit the shelf, and sold on the promise that they cut bandages. That bar is low. The Tier 1 Elite was built to a different standard.
Diamond-Like Carbon is one of the hardest coatings used in industrial cutting tools. It extends blade sharpness, resists corrosion, and holds an edge through thousands of cuts — far outlasting titanium or standard black-oxide finishes.
The Tier 1 Elite is built from high-carbon stainless steel with a blade geometry designed for one-motion cuts through clothing, seat belts, webbing, and bandaging material. The thickness gives it flex-resistance under load.

Is the Tier 1 Elite the same as the PRO Extreme?

How does DLC compare to titanium coating?
DLC is harder than titanium coating on the Vickers hardness scale. Better edge retention, lower cutting friction, superior corrosion resistance. Titanium is an improvement over bare steel; DLC is an improvement over titanium.
Can the T1E go through hospital autoclave sterilization?
Yes — rated for autoclave sterilization up to 275°F (135°C), covering standard pre-vacuum and gravity steam cycles. Most trauma shears are not rated for this.
